In different trading card games, there are a maximum number copies of the same card that you can include in your deck. The maximum number of copies that can be played in a deck is referred to as a “Playset”. In this article, we will define what a playset of a card is for different games, as different trading card games have different rules to deck building.
In the Pokémon, One Piece and Dragon Ball card games, a playset of cards is 4 copies of the same card.
Yu-Gi-Oh! is unique in that a playset consists of 3 copies of a card. The rules state that you can play 3 copies of a card in a deck that is a minimum of 40 Cards and a maximum of 60 cards. Yu-Gi-Oh! has an extra deck the contains Fusion, Link, XYZ and Synchro Monsters. The 3 card maximum rule applies to the extra deck as well. The exception to this rule is the Forbidden/ Limited list. The ban list is periodically updated on the official Yu-Gi-Oh! website. Cards that are banned means they can’t be played in a deck. Cards that are limited and semi-limited are limited to 1 and 2 copies respectively. There are two separate ban lists in Yu-Gi-Oh!. One for the TCG and one for the OCG version of the game.
